41% of Young Voters Find UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson's Killing Acceptable, 40% Unacceptable: Poll
Dec 17, 2024, 07:19 PM
A recent Emerson College poll has revealed a significant divide among young voters regarding the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Dec. 4 in New York City. The survey found that 41% of voters aged 18-29 believe the killing was somewhat or completely acceptable, with 24% finding it somewhat acceptable and 17% completely acceptable, while 40% consider it somewhat or completely unacceptable. Another 19% of young voters remained neutral on the issue. The poll reflects broader societal attitudes, with 68% of all respondents rejecting the actions of the killer. Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old suspect, was arrested on Dec. 9 in Altoona, Pa., following the incident, and his case has sparked widespread discussion and support online, particularly among younger demographics. The survey also highlighted differences along party lines, with 22% of Democrats, 16% of independents, and 12% of Republicans finding the killing acceptable.
