Poll: 41% of Young Voters Find Killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in NYC Acceptable, Suspect Luigi Mangione Arrested
Dec 17, 2024, 08:15 PM
A recent Emerson College poll has revealed that 41% of young voters aged 18-29 find the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson acceptable, slightly more than the 40% who consider it unacceptable. The survey, conducted between December 11-13 among 1,000 registered voters, highlights a significant divide among age demographics, with younger voters showing a higher acceptance of the killing compared to older age groups. The poll also noted that 68% of all respondents overall reject the killer's actions, with 24% of those aged 18-29 finding it 'somewhat acceptable,' and 17% finding it 'completely acceptable.' Additionally, 22% of Democrats found the killing acceptable, compared to 16% of independents and 12% of Republicans. Brian Thompson was shot in New York City, and Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old, was arrested in connection with the murder on December 9 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Mangione faces gun charges in Pennsylvania and New York is attempting to extradite him to face a murder charge.
