Pennsylvania Senate Race Between Casey and McCormick Heads to Recount Due to Narrow Margin
Nov 13, 2024, 10:20 PM
The Pennsylvania Department of State has announced a legally required statewide recount in the U.S. Senate race between Democratic incumbent Bob Casey and Republican challenger Dave McCormick. The recount was triggered automatically due to the narrow margin of less than one-half of one percent between the candidates. With an estimated 98% of votes counted, McCormick leads with 3,379,965 votes (48.9%) while Casey trails closely with 3,350,692 votes (48.5%). Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt confirmed that the recount is mandated by state law.
