VisitElon Musk's X Uses User Data to Train Grok AI by Default, Opt-Out Available Only on Web
Jul 26, 2024, 04:55 PM
Elon Musk's social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has activated a default setting that allows the company to use user data to train its AI chatbot, Grok. This setting, which was implemented without prior announcement, automatically opts users in to share their posts, interactions, and data with Grok for training purposes. The data is also shared with Musk's xAI. Users can disable this setting, but only through the web interface, as the option is not available on the mobile app. Musk has described Grok as 'the most powerful AI by every metric.' The move has drawn scrutiny from privacy watchdogs and concerns over potential violations of GDPR and the Digital Services Act. To opt out, users must navigate to Settings > Privacy and Safety > Grok and uncheck the data-sharing option.
