Baykar's Fergani Launches First Satellite FGN-100-d1 for Global Positioning via SpaceX Falcon 9
Jan 14, 2025, 08:48 PM
Baykar's space venture, Fergani Space, successfully launched its first satellite, FGN-100-d1, into orbit using SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-12 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in the United States. The satellite was launched along with 131 satellites in total. Under the leadership of CEO Selçuk Bayraktar, who described the launch as a 'historic step for us,' Fergani Space aims to develop a constellation of satellites to provide global positioning capabilities. Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır congratulated Fergani Space on their achievement, stating that the nation's space ecosystem will continue to strengthen in line with the National Space Program goals. The satellite is part of the Small-GEO category, advancing Turkey's capabilities in satellite systems, satellite transfer vehicles, and satellite launch systems.
