Trump Inauguration Security Bolstered with 25,000 Personnel Amid Extremist Threats

U.S. national security agencies have warned that President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday could be an 'attractive potential target' for violent extremists. Despite no specific credible threats being identified, the agencies noted that individuals with 'election-related grievances' might view the event as their last chance to influence the election results through violence. In response, security measures have been significantly bolstered, with approximately 25,000 law enforcement and military personnel deployed to secure the event. This includes around 4,000 additional police officers and 7,800 National Guard members from across the U.S., including contributions from the Illinois National Guard, Oklahoma National Guard, and Mississippi National Guard. The heightened security follows recent threats and past incidents, prompting officials to prepare for various potential scenarios, including bomb hoaxes, drone flights, vehicle ramming attacks, and swatting calls.
