Lee Kuan Yew's Son Lee Hsien Yang Granted UK Asylum, Citing Persecution
Oct 22, 2024, 06:55 AM
Lee Hsien Yang, the youngest son of Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew and estranged brother of former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, has been granted political asylum in the United Kingdom under the 1951 Geneva Convention. Lee, who left Singapore for the UK two years ago, claims he faces a 'well-founded fear' of persecution by the Singapore government, which he accuses of conducting a campaign against him. He was granted asylum in August. The Singapore government has dismissed his claims as baseless and unfounded.
