Giuliani Held in Contempt Again for Defaming Georgia Workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss
Jan 10, 2025, 09:09 PM
On January 10, 2025, Rudy Giuliani, former attorney for Donald Trump and ex-New York City mayor, was held in contempt of court by U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in Washington, D.C., for continuing to defame two Georgia election workers despite a previous court order. This is the second time this week Giuliani has been found in contempt of court, following a similar ruling in New York. The judge criticized Giuliani for persisting in spreading false claims about Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, who secured a $148 million defamation judgment against him. Judge Howell described his actions as the "worst kind of defamation" and "outrageous and shameful," warning him of potential jail time for violating the court's order. Before the hearing, Giuliani called the judge "bloodthirsty" and continued to defame the election workers on his web show. During the hearing, Judge Howell noted that it was "chilling" that Giuliani persisted in his defamatory statements, adding, "This takes real chutzpah, Mr. Giuliani."
