Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been granted a royal pardon, as part of a mass amnesty to celebrate King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s birthday. This pardon includes more than 50,000 prisoners and convicted felons, among them 7,500 parolees. Thaksin's parole, originally set to end on August 31, will now conclude on Sunday, effectively reducing his sentence by two weeks.
