Nearly 89% of all new cars sold in Norway in 2024 were fully electric, up from 82% in 2023, according to registration data released by the Norwegian Road Federation. This surge brings the country closer to its target of achieving 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2025, aiming to end sales of new gasoline and diesel cars. Tesla led the market in 2024, followed by Volkswagen and Toyota. Norway is poised to become the first country to eliminate new internal combustion engine cars from its market.
