NATO Launches 'Operation Baltic Sentry' After Suspected Undersea Cable Sabotage

NATO has launched a new military mission, 'Operation Baltic Sentry', to enhance the protection of critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea region following suspected sabotage of undersea telecom and power cables in recent months. The mission, announced at a summit of Baltic Sea NATO Allies in Helsinki, will involve the deployment of frigates, patrol aircraft, naval drones, and submarines to monitor activity below, above, and on the sea surface. Supreme Allied Commander General Chris Cavoli will oversee the operation, which aims to deter attacks on essential undersea infrastructure.
