Voters in New Jersey's 10th congressional district have elected Democrat LaMonica McIver to fill the U.S. House seat left vacant by the late Rep. Donald Payne Jr. McIver, who is the Newark Council President, won the special election with a significant lead over her Republican opponent, Carmen Bucco. Early and mail-in votes showed McIver leading by 87% to 9%, and she eventually secured the victory by a margin of 65.2 points. This district, which Biden won by 62.5 points in 2020, saw a slight Democratic overperformance in the special election. The race was called at 8:07 pm ET, with polls closing at 8:00 PM ET.
