Donald Trump Jr. Lands in Greenland on Trump Force One Amid President-Elect's 'Make Greenland Great Again' Push
Jan 7, 2025, 01:20 PM
Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Greenland on Tuesday aboard Trump Force One, amid renewed interest from his father, President-elect Donald Trump, in acquiring the territory for the United States. The visit, alongside advisers including Charlie Kirk and Sergio Gor, has heightened speculation about the incoming administration's intentions towards the autonomous Danish territory. President-elect Trump recently described U.S. ownership of Greenland as an "absolute necessity," stating, "This is a deal that must happen. Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it and cherish it from a very vicious outside world. Make Greenland Great Again." Upon arrival in Nuuk, Trump Jr. was greeted by locals, some wearing "Make America Great Again" hats. During his visit, the President-elect called into a lunch meeting, emphasizing Greenland's strategic importance. "You're so strategically located," he told attendees. "Our country needs it and the whole world needs it. It's a very special place." The visit marks a renewed push by the incoming administration to explore possibilities of acquiring the resource-rich Arctic island. Greenland, currently an autonomous territory of Denmark, has previously rebuffed suggestions of a U.S. purchase.
