Derrick Henry's 81-Yard Run at 21.72 mph Leads Ravens Over Buccaneers, Chasing Rushing Record
Oct 22, 2024, 02:24 AM
Derrick Henry, known as "King Henry," the Baltimore Ravens' running back, showcased his exceptional talent in the recent 34-10 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At 30 years old and 6-foot-3, 247 pounds, Henry broke away for an impressive 81-yard run, reaching a top speed of 21.72 mph—the fifth-fastest speed by a ball carrier this season and the third-fastest of his career. Despite not scoring on the run, as Zyon McCollum caught up at 21.85 mph to save the touchdown, Henry didn't appear winded. His performance contributed significantly to the Ravens' win and pushed his season totals to 873 yards and eight touchdowns in his first seven games since joining from the Tennessee Titans. Notably, he exceeded over 89.5 rushing yards in the game. This places him on pace to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing yardage record. Additionally, Henry has climbed to 30th on the NFL's all-time rushing list and could reach the top 25 by the end of the season. His 81-yard run was more than all but nine running backs achieved in Week 7.
