A tragic incident occurred at the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine near Cripple Creek, Colorado, when an elevator malfunctioned, resulting in the death of a tour guide and trapping 23 people underground. The accident, which happened on Thursday, left the individuals stranded approximately 1,000 feet below the surface. Rescue operations were successfully completed after about six hours, with all trapped individuals safely brought to the surface. Four people sustained injuries during the incident. Authorities in Teller County are currently investigating the cause of the elevator failure at the site on Pikes Peak.
