One person is dead, four others are injured, and 12 others were trapped 1,000 feet underground in the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine near Cripple Creek, Colorado, after an elevator malfunctioned on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at a tourist site, and the trapped individuals were part of a tour group. Rescue operations were initiated immediately, and authorities confirmed that all 12 trapped individuals have been safely rescued. The Teller County Sheriff’s Office and other local officials were involved in the rescue efforts. The mine is located on Pikes Peak and is a historic gold mine attraction.
