Official announcement from Charlie Morton or the Baltimore Orioles
Orioles Sign 41-Year-Old Charlie Morton, Two-Time Champion, to One-Year, $15 Million Deal
Jan 3, 2025, 10:46 PM
The Baltimore Orioles have signed veteran right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton to a one-year, $15 million contract for the 2025 season. Morton, who is 41 years old, spent the past four seasons with the Atlanta Braves and had hoped to finish his career there. Known for his durability, he has made at least 30 starts in each of the past six full seasons. Morton's addition strengthens the Orioles' rotation, which includes Zach Eflin, Grayson Rodriguez, Dean Kremer, and Tomoyuki Sugano. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated catcher Rene Pinto for assignment. Morton is a two-time World Series winner and is expected to provide stability as a middle-of-the-rotation starter.
