Frankie Montas, a 31-year-old right-handed pitcher, has agreed to a two-year, $34 million contract with the New York Mets, pending a physical examination. The deal includes an opt-out clause after 2025 and will pay Montas $17 million annually. Last season, Montas pitched 150.2 innings with a 4.84 ERA for the Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers. However, after his mid-season trade to the Brewers, his strikeout percentage increased to 28.7% following adjustments, showcasing significant improvement. Montas features a five-pitch mix, highlighted by a whiff-inducing splitter and an above-average fastball velocity, with his sinker grading out well.
