Armenia Foils Russia-Backed Coup Attempt, Arrests 3 Suspects on Sept. 18
Sep 18, 2024, 04:56 PM
Armenian authorities have thwarted an attempted coup aimed at violently seizing power. The National Security Service of Armenia reported that the plot was orchestrated by pro-Russian forces. The Investigative Committee of Armenia stated that the conspirators included Armenian citizens and former residents of Nagorno-Karabakh who had undergone military training in Russia. Three individuals have been arrested, while four others are still wanted in connection with the plot. The conspirators were allegedly well-funded, receiving 220,000 RUB per month each. The Armenian government has accused Russia of organizing and funding the coup attempt against the Pashinyan government. The announcement was made on Sept. 18.
