Nokia Wins German Patent Injunction Against Amazon's Fire TV Stick, Prime Video
Sep 20, 2024, 08:03 AM
Nokia, one of the world's leading digital patent holders, has secured a Germany-wide injunction against Amazon's video streaming devices, including the Fire TV Stick, for infringing on its standard-essential patents. The Munich I Regional Court, presided by Judge Dr. Oliver Schoen, announced a highly unusual bench ruling that Amazon has been using Nokia's patented video technologies without a license. As a result, Amazon will need to take a license for Prime Video. Parallel cases are also pending in the U.S. and in Europe's Unified Patent Court. The court found that Nokia acted fairly in its negotiations with Amazon.
