Hong Kong Probe Reveals Cathay Airbus A350 Engine Defect Could Cause Midair Fire, Extensive Damage
Sep 19, 2024, 07:39 AM
A probe by Hong Kong's aviation accident investigation agency has revealed that a defect in the engine of Cathay Pacific's Airbus A350 could cause extensive damage. The investigation found that the engine failure was due to a ruptured fuel hose, which led to a midair engine fire. The defect, discovered earlier this month, resulted in the cancellation of dozens of Cathay Pacific flights. The Air Accident Investigation Authority of Hong Kong noted that the defect could have led to a more serious engine fire and widespread damage to the aircraft, according to a preliminary report.
