Hong Kong Probe Reveals Cathay Airbus Defect, Midair Engine Fire Risk
Sep 19, 2024, 07:39 AM
A Hong Kong probe has revealed that a defect in Cathay Pacific's Airbus A350 could cause extensive damage. The investigation by Hong Kong's aviation accident investigation agency found that the engine failure was due to a ruptured fuel hose, which led to a midair engine fire earlier this month. The preliminary report indicated that the fire could have spread and caused widespread damage to the plane. Investigators found a discernible hole in the fuel hose. The defect has already led to the cancellation of dozens of Cathay Pacific flights in early September.
