Washington State Hires Jimmy Rogers from South Dakota State as Head Football Coach on Five-Year Deal
Dec 28, 2024, 09:52 PM
Washington State University has hired Jimmy Rogers as its new head football coach, replacing Jake Dickert who recently moved to Wake Forest. Rogers, previously the head coach at South Dakota State, led the Jackrabbits to an FCS national championship in 2023 and a semifinal appearance in the current season, compiling a 27-3 record over two years. His coaching achievements include winning the Eddie Robinson Award as the FCS's top coach in 2023. Rogers will take over a Washington State team that finished the 2024 season with an 8-5 record, following a loss to Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl. The Cougars have been affected by the transfer portal, losing at least 25 players and several coaches, including both coordinators. Rogers has accepted a five-year deal with Washington State, set to earn an average of $1.57 million per year. Washington State athletic director Anne McCoy praised Rogers for his character, passion, vision, and commitment, highlighting his high coaching acumen and work ethic.
