Aug 3, 2024, 04:09 AM
Vietnam's President To Lam has been confirmed as the new general secretary of the Communist Party, the country's most powerful political role, on Saturday. He replaces Nguyen Phu Trong, the longest-ruling postwar leader, who passed away two weeks ago. To Lam has pledged to continue an aggressive anti-graft campaign and work to ease bureaucratic bottlenecks. The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has elected To Lam as general secretary of the CPV Central Committee.
