Vietnam and France have agreed to upgrade their diplomatic relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral ties. This new level of partnership is the highest for the Southeast Asian nation and makes France the first European Union country and only the eighth country globally to achieve this status with Vietnam.
