Vietnam's President To Lam Named New Communist Party Chief on Saturday

Vietnam's President To Lam has been confirmed as the new general secretary of the Communist Party, the country's most powerful political role, on Saturday. He replaces Nguyen Phu Trong, the longest-ruling postwar leader, who passed away two weeks ago. To Lam has pledged to continue an aggressive anti-graft campaign and work to ease bureaucratic bottlenecks. The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has elected To Lam as general secretary of the CPV Central Committee.
