Azerbaijan Dispatches 200 Tons of Aid to Syria's Idlib Via 10 Trucks, With AFAD's Support
Dec 30, 2024, 09:01 AM
Azerbaijan has dispatched a humanitarian aid convoy to Syria, specifically targeting Idlib city in the Idlib province, to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis there. The convoy, consisting of 10 trucks carrying nearly 200 tons of various food and grocery products, was sent from Baku. The aid is planned to be transported through the territories of Georgia and Türkiye, and will be delivered to the “Chobanbey” crossing point on the Turkish-Syrian border before being distributed in Idlib with the assistance of Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD). Aykhan Hajizada, a representative from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized Azerbaijan's commitment to supporting stability in Syria. This move marks a significant diplomatic effort by Azerbaijan towards the Middle East, amidst a backdrop of diminishing Iranian influence in the region.
