Train drivers in the UK have voted overwhelmingly to accept a multi-year pay deal, ending a two-year dispute at 16 train companies. The deal, backed by 96.6% of Aslef members with an 88.5% turnout, includes a 15% pay increase. Mick Whelan, Aslef’s general secretary, announced the end of the longest train drivers’ strike in history. The pay deal was put forward by Labour and will bring an end to more than two years of strike action in England.
