Russia Launches Major Counteroffensive in Kursk, Reclaims 125 sq km and 10 Settlements
Sep 12, 2024, 05:10 AM
Russian forces have launched a significant counteroffensive in the Kursk region, reclaiming approximately 125 square kilometers of territory and around 10 settlements from Ukrainian control. This marks Russia's first major effort to regain territory in over a month. The offensive, which began on September 10, has seen Russian troops advance in various areas, including the western part of the region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the counteroffensive, stating that it is proceeding according to Ukraine's plan. Apti Alaudinov, the commander of Akhmat, reported that Russian forces have made gains near Korenevo and Glushkovo. The situation remains fluid with ongoing clashes reported in multiple settlements.
