Proteomic Aging Clock Predicts 67 Diseases, Outperforms Clinical Models

A recent study published in Nature Medicine highlights the development of proteomic prediction models using data from the UK Biobank Pharma Proteomics Project. These models have proven superior to traditional clinical models in assessing the 10-year risk of 67 diseases. The research also introduces a 'Proteomic Aging Clock,' which uses proteins from the Olink panel to predict age-related functional status, multimorbidity, and mortality risk across diverse populations. The study, involving 45,441 participants, shows strong associations with chronic diseases, including 18 chronic diseases and cognitive decline, and has been validated in cohorts from China, Finland, and the UK.
