Macron Keeps Attal as French PM Temporarily After Hung Parliament Elections
Jul 8, 2024, 10:18 AM
French President Emmanuel Macron has decided to keep Prime Minister Gabriel Attal in office temporarily following parliamentary elections. The elections resulted in the government losing its role as the strongest party to the left, leading to a hung parliament. Macron has asked Attal to stay on for now, despite Attal offering his resignation. The decision leaves the government in a state of limbo as Macron plans to appoint a new government. Attal could still be there come Christmas.
