NBA Finalizes $76 Billion Media Rights Deal with ESPN, NBC, Amazon; TNT Out
Jul 24, 2024, 09:51 PM
The NBA has finalized new 11-year media rights agreements worth $76 billion with Disney, NBCUniversal, and Amazon, starting from the 2025-26 season. The deals will see ESPN, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video broadcasting NBA games, ending a 40-year partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery's TNT. Amazon will pay approximately $1.8 billion annually, Disney around $2.6 billion, and NBCUniversal about $2.5 billion. The NBA's decision to reject TNT's matching bid has led to Warner Bros. Discovery threatening legal action, claiming that their offer met the contractual requirements. The new agreements also include unprecedented coverage of WNBA games. TNT's final season broadcasting NBA games will be the 2024-25 season.
