NBA Finalizes $76 Billion, 11-Year Media Rights Deals with ESPN, NBC, Amazon; TNT Retains Matching Rights
Jul 10, 2024, 07:52 PM
The NBA has finalized new media rights deals with ESPN, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video, securing agreements worth $76 billion over 11 years. ESPN will continue to broadcast the NBA Finals, while NBC and Amazon will share other significant broadcasts, including alternating coverage of the conference finals. Amazon Prime Video will also be the exclusive home of the In-Season Tournament. These deals will result in nearly daily national telecasts of NBA games once the NFL season concludes, with games scheduled across various days of the week on different platforms, including Peacock. TNT Sports, currently a major broadcaster of NBA games, retains the right to match the new deals, and its decision is pending. The agreements are expected to be approved by the respective TV network boards and could be officially announced before the upcoming Olympics. The new schedule will begin in the 24-25 season, with Amazon contributing $1.8B/year and NBC $2.5B/year.
