Elon Musk to Use Eisenhower Executive Office Building for DOGE, Aims to Cut $2 Trillion in Federal Spending
Jan 14, 2025, 06:41 PM
Elon Musk is set to occupy office space within the White House complex as he takes on a leadership role in the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), according to multiple reports. The office is expected to be located in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House. Musk, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, will head DOGE, an initiative aimed at reducing government waste and enhancing efficiency. The project, which is not an official government department, has been tasked with suggesting executive orders to streamline federal operations and cut spending, with an ambitious goal to reduce federal expenditures by $2 trillion, though Musk has indicated a more realistic target might be $1 trillion. Currently, DOGE operates with around 50 staffers, with plans to expand to 100 by the inauguration, working out of SpaceX offices in Washington, D.C. Musk's involvement comes after significant financial support for Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, and his role may involve working closely with the incoming administration to achieve DOGE's objectives.
