Venezuela Offers $100,000 Reward for Capture of Exiled Opposition Leader Edmundo González Urrutia
Jan 2, 2025, 09:31 PM
Venezuela's government has announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the capture of opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia, who is currently in exile in Spain. González claims to have won the presidential election held on July 28 of the previous year. The reward was publicized through a wanted poster shared by the Venezuelan Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Investigations Agency on Instagram. González faces charges including conspiracy, complicity in the use of violent acts against the Republic, usurpation of functions, forgery of documents, money laundering, disrespect to State institutions, incitement to disobedience of laws, and association to commit crimes. The announcement comes just days before the scheduled inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro for his third consecutive term on January 10.
