Henderson Men Indicted for Damaging 140-Million-Year-Old Lake Mead Rocks, Trial Set for Oct. 8
Aug 26, 2024, 11:40 AM
Two men from Henderson, Nevada, have been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly damaging ancient rock formations at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The formations, estimated to be 140 million years old, were reportedly pushed over a cliff edge around the Redstone Dunes Trail on April 7, resulting in damages exceeding $1,000. The men face charges of injury and depredation of government property, as well as aiding and abetting. A trial date has been set for October 8, and if convicted, the men could face up to 10 years in prison. A video that allegedly shows the men toppling the rocks has gone viral.
