Netanyahu Vetoes Israel's Plan for Field Hospital for Gazan Children
Jul 18, 2024, 11:18 AM
Israel is preparing to establish a temporary hospital to treat Palestinian children from Gaza. The medical unit of the IDF requested that the Israeli health ministry start preparing the hospital. Defense Minister Yoav Galant instructed the IDF to set up the field hospital, citing the need due to Hamas’ abuse of Gaza’s hospitals as military bases. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he does not approve of the field hospital being built on Israeli territory, overruling Gallant's order. Netanyahu's decision has been criticized by defense officials as politically motivated. Earlier this week, the defense ministry called the hospital a 'significant short-term solution.'
