Spain Finalizes 4 Billion Euro Deal for 25 Eurofighter Typhoon Jets, Deliveries Start in 2030
Dec 20, 2024, 01:23 PM
Spain has finalized a contract to purchase 25 additional Eurofighter Typhoon jets, known as the Halcon II program, from Airbus for 4 billion euros. The deal was signed at Airbus's facilities in Getafe, Madrid, and includes 21 single-seat and four twin-seat aircraft. These new jets will replace part of Spain's aging F-18 fleet, operated by the Spanish Air and Space Force. The first deliveries are expected in 2030, and the acquisition will increase Spain's Eurofighter fleet to 115 aircraft. The contract was formalized in the presence of Defense Minister Margarita Robles, who emphasized the importance of this move for modernizing Spain's air defense capabilities.
