Spain Signs 4.5 Billion Euro Contract for 25 Eurofighter Typhoon Jets, Including 21 Single-Seat and 4 Twin-Seat Aircraft
Dec 20, 2024, 11:16 AM
Spain has signed a contract for the acquisition of 25 Eurofighter Typhoon jets under the Halcon II program. The deal, signed with the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA), will see the delivery of 21 single-seat and four twin-seat aircraft starting in 2030. These new jets will replace part of the Spanish Air Force's aging F-18 fleet. The contract, valued at approximately 4.5 billion euros, was signed at Airbus's facility in Getafe, Madrid. This order will increase the Spanish Eurofighter fleet to a total of 115 aircraft, following a previous order of 20 Eurofighters under the Halcon I program in 2022. The Eurofighter Typhoon jets are assembled, tested, and delivered at the Airbus Getafe site, supporting over 16,000 jobs in Spain. The acquisition was approved by Spain's Council of Ministers in September 2023 and includes the aircraft, engines, and necessary support services.
