JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna Arrested Over Sexual Assault, Extortion Allegations of ₹5 Crore
Jun 23, 2024, 03:12 AM
JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna has been arrested following allegations of sexual assault by a party worker. The complainant, a 27-year-old man from Hassan, accused Revanna of sexually abusing him at a farmhouse. In response, Revanna and his close aide, Shivakumar, filed a counter-complaint alleging that the accuser, along with his brother-in-law, was attempting to extort ₹5 crore by threatening to file a false sexual assault case. An FIR has been registered against the accuser and his brother-in-law under sections 384, 506, 377, and 342 of the IPC. The Hassan police took Revanna to the CEN police station for questioning and later to the Hassan government hospital for a medical examination. The case has sparked political controversy, with Revanna claiming it is a political conspiracy. Revanna is the son of HD Revanna.
