Ukraine Conducts Defensive Operations in Kursk to Disrupt Russian Logistics
Aug 13, 2024, 11:35 AM
Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are engaged in operations in Russia's Kursk region, with no intention to occupy the area, according to an unnamed Ukrainian official. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry describes the operation as defensive, aiming to disrupt Russian logistics and divert troops from the Donetsk region. Ukraine's MFA spokesperson, Tykhyi, emphasized that the focus is on protecting Ukrainian lives, as Russian forces have launched over 2,000 strikes on Sumy Oblast since summer, using 255 guided bombs and over 100 missiles. The ongoing operation is intended to neutralize threats from Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory, not to gain land.
