NYC Police Investigate Murder of Yazmeen Williams, 'Wheelchair Killer' Arrested
Jul 9, 2024, 12:39 AM
Police in New York City are investigating the murder of 31-year-old Yazmeen Williams, whose body was found in a sleeping bag on a busy Manhattan street. Williams, who recently started working with the city's homeless population in a role with NYCHA, was discovered near trash on 27th Street and Third Avenue in Kips Bay on Friday. Police and neighbors confirmed she died from a gunshot. The NYPD arrested the suspect, known as the 'wheelchair killer,' at the NYCHA building where he resided with the victim. The suspect, an elderly man, was physically assaulted by an angry mob as he was taken into custody. The mob surrounded him as he was carried on a stretcher from the Straus Houses at E 28th Street into an ambulance to a hospital.
