In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, police have seized counterfeit Rs 500 currency notes worth approximately Rs 1.6 crore that featured Bollywood actor Anupam Kher's photograph instead of Mahatma Gandhi's. Fraudsters used 26 bundles of these fake notes to dupe a bullion trader into exchanging gold worth Rs 1.6 crore. Anupam Kher expressed surprise upon learning about the incident, remarking, 'Oh my! ₹500 notes! Anything can happen.' The police operation resulted in the discovery and seizure of the counterfeit currency.
