Cristian Fernando Gutiérrez Ochoa, a high-ranking member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and son-in-law of its leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as 'El Mencho', was arrested in Riverside, California. Gutiérrez Ochoa had previously faked his own death to evade capture and live a life of luxury in the U.S. He was apprehended after orchestrating the importation of large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine into the United States. The arrest was announced by the U.S. Department of Justice, highlighting a significant blow to the CJNG's operations. Gutiérrez Ochoa faces federal conspiracy charges related to drug trafficking, with the drug ring using social media to facilitate their operations.
