Jul 24, 2024, 12:45 PM
A British Army soldier, identified as Lieutenant Colonel Mark, was seriously injured in a stabbing attack outside Brompton Army Barracks in Gillingham, Kent. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Sally Port Gardens, and the soldier was airlifted to the hospital with severe injuries. The attacker, identified as 24-year-old Anthony Esan, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Witnesses reported that the attacker, wearing a ski mask, pursued the soldier and launched a frenzied knife attack, stabbing him multiple times. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and Kent Police have not ruled out terrorism. Esan has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared in Medway Magistrates' Court following his arrest.
