Pakistan's CTD Arrests Senior Al-Qaeda Leader Amin al-Haq, Close Aide of Osama bin Laden

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab, Pakistan, has announced the arrest of Amin al-Haq, a close associate of Osama bin Laden and a senior Al-Qaeda leader. The arrest occurred during an intelligence-based operation in the Gujrat district of Punjab. Amin al-Haq, who has been associated with Osama bin Laden since 1996 and was involved in the 9/11 attacks, was previously detained by Pakistani security forces five months ago for illegal possession of weapons while crossing from Afghanistan into Pakistan. He is also designated as a terrorist by the United Nations.
