$5 Million South American 'Crime Tourism' Ring Busted in SoCal
Aug 28, 2024, 09:42 PM
Federal authorities have announced charges against six individuals involved in a 'crime tourism' theft ring in Southern California. The group, allegedly consisting of foreign nationals, is accused of coming to the United States specifically to commit burglaries. A Santa Clarita man has been indicted in connection with the $5 million scheme. The operation reportedly used a Los Angeles-based car rental company as a front to facilitate the crimes. The FBI has been involved in the investigation, which targeted an international burglary crew believed to be linked to South America. A home burglary suspect was also arrested in Cheviot Hills after the LAPD issued a community alert for the Westside.
