Germany Delivers First of 54 RCH 155 Howitzers to Ukraine for Precision Strikes
Jan 13, 2025, 12:02 PM
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has handed over the first of 54 RCH 155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine, marking a significant military support initiative. The handover took place in Kassel at a facility of the defense manufacturer KNDS, where the howitzers are produced. The RCH 155, a 155-mm artillery system mounted on a Boxer wheeled armored vehicle, is noted for its 54 km range and ability to conduct precision strikes while on the move, enhancing its capability to evade counterattacks. Ukraine will be the first country to field this state-of-the-art weapon. The first six systems will remain in Germany to train Ukrainian soldiers before being deployed. Pistorius emphasized Germany's commitment to supporting Ukraine, stating, 'Ukraine can count on us, and Germany is ready to take on responsibility in Europe.'
