Germany to Deliver 6 IRIS-T Systems and 50 Missiles to Ukraine in 2025, Announced at Ramstein Meeting
Jan 9, 2025, 03:21 PM
Germany has committed to bolstering Ukraine's air defense capabilities by supplying additional military aid. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced at the Ramstein meeting that Germany will deliver six IRIS-T air defense systems in 2025, along with nearly 50 guided missiles for these systems. Pistorius emphasized that this support will be provided regardless of the outcome of the German federal election scheduled for February 23. The missiles, originally intended for the Bundeswehr, are being redirected directly from production to Ukraine to aid in their defense against Russian air attacks. Additionally, Germany will deploy 200 soldiers and two Patriot air defense systems to Poland for six months to protect a key logistics hub supporting Ukraine.
