Unidentified drones have been sighted over New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and other parts of the United States in recent weeks, raising concerns among residents and lawmakers about potential security threats. The drones have been observed flying over sensitive areas, including military bases and critical infrastructure. Rep. Jeff Van Drew accused the Pentagon of being "incredibly stupid" in its handling of the situation and claimed that "very high sources" informed him the drones are being launched from a foreign vessel in the Atlantic. Sen. Cory Booker expressed frustration over the lack of transparency, stating that misinformation is spreading due to the absence of official information. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other senators from New York and New Jersey have requested federal briefings on the drone sightings. The White House acknowledged the reports but stated that many of the sightings are actually manned aircraft being flown lawfully and that there is "no evidence" the drones pose a national security or public safety threat. German authorities are also investigating unidentified drone sightings over the U.S. Ramstein Air Base and sensitive industrial sites, including BASF, citing concerns over recent incidents on December 3 and 4.
